The IT & data protection team in Berlin advises technology businesses, digital platforms and mid-sized enterprises on software agreements, cloud computing and regulatory data compliance. We guide commercial projects and regulatory audits from initial analysis through to operational rollout. Our teams are compact, providing direct insight into daily commercial legal practice.

During your traineeship stage (Referendariat), you participate actively in client matters. You review commercial agreements, prepare initial legal memorandums, draft privacy notices and conduct research on technology law questions. Where matters touch on employment law or corporate transactions, you collaborate with colleagues across those practices in-house.

Dr Katharina Hallström and Felix Wenzel oversee your professional training personally. You receive regular feedback on your drafting and learn how to construct clear, practical commercial contracts. We align your schedule with the requirements of your training authority and grant dedicated study leave ahead of your second state examinations.

We value clear, disciplined language and concise reasoning. You will use English regularly on international instructions, cross-border technology contracts and comparative legal research.

Is this role for you?

A good fit

You completed your first state examination with above-average results and have a clear interest in technology law. You communicate precisely in German and English and enjoy collaborative working in an active team.

Less of a fit

If you prefer a traineeship focused on theoretical academic research without direct involvement in active client matters or commercial contract drafting, this position will be less of a fit.

What we offer

Appropriate trainee remuneration and direct mentoring from partners and associates. We offer flexible arrangements for compulsory training courses and exam preparation, access to specialist resources and a desk in Berlin-Mitte.
